Our History

There has been a general practice on this site since 1961, when Dr Owen Shorten first opened his doors to serve the people of Cork's northside.
Dr William Powell began his own practice in the same building in 1979.
Dr Brian Coffey and Dr Finbarr Corkery joined Dr Shorten in practice, and Dr Powell was joined by Dr Conor McNeice, and later by Drs Eoin and Fiona Monahan.
The tradition of two separate practices operating from the same building has continued.
Drs Conor McNeice, Eoin Monahan and Fiona Monahan make up one practice and Drs Niamh Coffey, and Denis O'Sullivan work together in the other practice.
Patients of one practice are not generally seen by doctors from the other practice, except in emergency situations.
